Daufuskie Island is the southernmost sea island off the coast of South Carolina. Located approximately one mile from Harbour Town, Hilton Head Island, Daufuskie is surrounded by the waters of the Calibogue Sound, the Cooper and New Rivers and the Mungen Creek. Daufuskie is 5 miles long and 2.5 miles wide with 5000 acres. The full time population is over 200 residents.

Travel to Daufuskie Island is exclusively by boat. There is no bridge to Daufuskie and none is planned or even talked about. There are two ferry systems - one of which is private and the other public. There is water taxi service. The primary mode of transportation on the island is golf cart. Individual cars are not permitted in either Melrose or Haig Point Communities.

Daufuskie Island is on the National Register of Historic Places.
